Title: Love and Gelato
Author: Jenna Evans Welch
Genre: Young Adult, Romance
Rating: ★★★★
I can't be the only one who was gripped by this book because of its cover, right? Who doesn't love, love and gelato? That's right no one!! I've had my eyes on this book ever since I first saw it over a year ago, and it wasn't until a month ago did I finally purchase it. Well, I actually didn't purchase it per se. Have any of you heard of the app shop kicks? If you haven't it's a fantastic app where you get free gift cards by scanning products and racking up points. You all should get it because even though it takes a little while to get enough points for gift cards, it comes in good handy and come on, I just got an 8 dollar book for free!!
Anyway, back to the review...
Love and Gelato was the type of book that I breezed by in just a few short days. I loved Jenna Evans Welch's descriptive way of writing Italy's exquisite art and scenery. Within moments, I almost thought that I, myself, was with Lina and Ren as they ran around the beautiful city of Florence on another adventure from Lina's mother's journal. After reading this book, I have added Italy to my list of places I'd love to travel one day. Does anyone know if those secret bakeries are an actual thing? Because I'm dying to go!
I got some serious "Anna and the French Kiss" by Stephanie Perkins vibes, but I'm not really complaining. I loved that book and both of its sequels that followed it, but I could see how someone could get very annoyed by their similarities. If you put that aside, I would defiantly give this book a chance, as even though the idea is similar, the plot is completely different!
Even though I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish, I did find some parts to be very bizarre and unrealistic in my opinion, which was the reason why I kept myself from giving this book 5 stars, but instead 4. To keep this review as spoiler free as possible, I will not go any further in depth on this, but to those of you who have read this book, please message me and tell me that I wasn't the only one to think the bits near the ending were very strange! I can't be, right?
And one more thing, where in this world can I find myself my own Ren? This is important! haha
